Reiki and Women’s Health | A Holistic Approach:
As a woman I know how challenging, yet how amazing it can be; especially when running your own business, home and trying to also manage the importance of self-care.
There are always many plates to try to spin and also some that get smashed; this is a part I accept today. Why? Because it’s impossible for me to do all the things, so I learn to prioritise and also learn the importance of putting myself at the top and not at the bottom. If I don’t then I am doing myself a disservice and also my daughter doesn’t have a “good” role model.
I wanted to share in this blog how Reiki can support with women’s health and overall well-being.
So what is Reiki?
Reiki, a gentle, non-invasive energy healing technique is rooted in Japanese tradition and is gaining recognition for its potential benefits in women’s health. Reiki involves the channelling of energy to promote relaxation, balance and healing.
I have listed below how it can support with various aspects of women’s health:
1. **Stress Reduction and Emotional Well-being**
Many women juggle multiple roles (yep!) which is leading to increased stress and anxiety. Reiki promotes deep relaxation and therefore helping reduce stress levels. By restoring emotional balance, Reiki can alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression; providing a sense of peace and empowerment. Halleluiah!
2. **Menstrual Health**
Reiki can help alleviate menstrual discomfort and balance hormonal fluctuations. My husband used to say he could tell my cycle based on my behaviour and emotional tolerance! Many women share about a reduction in cramps, mood swings, reactions and other PMS symptoms after Reiki sessions. I see the calming effects of Reiki personally as it also supports the body’s natural rhythm, promoting a healthier cycle.
3. **Pregnancy and Postpartum Support**
Pregnancy can be an absolutely beautiful, yet challenging time for us women. Reiki offers a safe space for relaxation, reducing stress for both mother and baby. I have seen pregnant women right up to their due date being given Reiki and also during labour to support them. My room is so nurturing and comforting; we can adjust the bed, add more pillows, cushions and blankets to support.
Postpartum, Reiki can aid in recovery, addressing issues like postpartum depression and fatigue, while promoting bonding and emotional healing. I have also had baby in the room with Mummy; in a carry seat or lying on Mum; such a beautiful support for you both.
4. **Menopause Relief**
As we as women transition into menopause, we often experience physical and emotional challenges. Reiki can help manage symptoms such as hot flashes, mood swings and insomnia. By fostering relaxation, it can also support overall hormonal balance. I also see and experience how Reiki can help with brain fog, mental clarity and support and also the aches and pains that can be experienced with peri/menopause. I personally have used Reiki (along with other holistic approaches) to manage and support this cycle change. It allows me to be more in tune with my body and emotions and to listen to what I need, but also nurture and nourish myself.
5. **Chronic Pain Management**
Many women suffer from chronic conditions like fibromyalgia or endometriosis; I see this very often along with fatigue etc. Reiki’s pain-relieving properties can complement traditional treatments, providing relief and helping to improve quality of life. Regular Reiki sessions can help reduce the intensity and frequency of pain episodes.
6. **Enhancing Fertility**
Reiki can be a supportive therapy for when undergoing fertility treatments. This can impact on so many levels including emotional, physical and mental. So Reiki supports in cultivating a calm and positive mindset, to reduce stress, that can impact fertility too. Some women have found Reiki enhances overall well-being; making this often challenging process, more manageable.
7. **Promoting Self-Care and Mindfulness**
We know how important it is to prioritise our own self-care and incorporating Reiki into our lives really supports on so many levels. Helping with a healthy mindset, being more mindful and self-awareness. This helps us to then connect with our bodies and emotions on a deeper level. To create more resilience to sit and be with ourselves and listen to what we need. In my experience this ability to connect is empowering and transformative.
